View Full Version : Bodily Problems?

I have a few, but I'm specifically thinking of one that affects my everyday life on the net, and everywhere I go.

Most people have a certain degree of color blindness which allows them to see some colors, just not a specific part of the spectrum.

It's not like that for me.

My color blindness is a rare one, and limits the colors I can distinguish a lot.

I can't see colors between:

green-brown and every color in between
red-dark orange and every color in between
red-maroon and every color in between
yellow-bright orange and every color in between
blue-purple and every color in between

With that said, I can only see about fifty colors. All of which are cool, bright colors. Even then, they look damn near the same to me.
The only true colors I can distinguish between and KNOW what they are are the colors between black and white, including themselves.

I'm almost blind, but I still see things. It affects me everyday because at school, I can't see half of the things on the Power Point due to contrasting colors that mix together. If I see a color on a white background, and I normally can't see it, it causes a migrain from hell.

When y'all say I nailed the colors perfectly, it is a very lucky guess on my part, because I can't really see what you are talking about.

I just thought y'all should know what I go through when I come here to show off new stuff, or whatever.

Please share some problems that limit your activity both in the real world and on the digital world.

I also suffer from asthma and I'm showing characteristics of autism.

>_>

I don't even know what autism is...

I don't have glasses or something on my eyes but i do can hear for only 70% on my left ear and i got loads of alergic reactions on certain stuff like grass and trees :/ quite horrible sometimes :) but overall i have to be lucky that i don't have any other stuff :).

And about the coloring thing just let us know when you get yourself ranked so we can't put you down by the colors. And even though that latest one with Hokage of you has quite good colors :D!!

I have asthma and this affects me badly and yes i nearly died from it.

One day i was running about playing football for 9 hours straight, all my friends had breaks but i had nothing not even food or drink. I started to feel extremely dizzy then i really struggled to breathe, fell to the ground and woke up a week later out of a coma because of lack of oxygen getting to my brain and i didn't have a break.. at all..I have many stories but one i really don't want to share...sounds extremely painful

I don't know what it's called but... there's a disease where... ummm... lemme explain:

I draw a circle and fill it with pencil coloring... if I see empty spots it gives me a horrible feeling that I MUST fill in those empty places or I can't do anything correctly.

Another example is if you're walking down the street, you HAVE to step on leaves and make them have the crunch sound.

I am also a tad overweight. I'm also ugly, strong, suffer from chronic headaches, and I have bad bones.

But, none of that bothers me. It's when I use Photoshop or something that it really gets to me. I can't see 9/10 of the colors you guys can, and everyone tells me I need to work on it.

I can't see them, so I can't work on them.

That's the same as telling a blind man to work on a construction site on the top level. It's not only dumb, but very insulting to the blind man.

I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, but I have to finally snap.

I'm taking a three week leave. Not only from this site, but from Graphics in general.

I'll see y'all later, though, I promise.

If I have you on MSN, I promise to talk to you guys there. ^-^

hmm,the only thing thats not really a problem to me is my height i guess
I am only 5 foot tall and most people are 5-6 or 5-7 here in my grade
we were running the mile at school for P.E. and my friend started having an asthma attack. So,i stopped running and picked him up and ran to the P.E. teacher who is a body builder so he picked him up easily :P

btw, what exactly is autism..i was reading about it once, but never got a clean definition

After reading that Wiki article, I have come to realize that I am disabled with autism.

Just, it's minor autism.

"Children with autism are affected by their symptoms every day, which set them apart from unaffected students. Because of problems with receptive language and theory of mind, they can have difficulty understanding some classroom directions and instruction, along with subtle vocal and facial cues of teachers. This inability to fully decipher the world around them often makes education stressful. Teachers need to be aware of a student's disorder, and ideally should have specific training in autism education, so that they are able to help the student get the best out of his or her classroom experiences."
For that paragraph, it isn't obvious because that isn't me.

"Some students learn more effectively with visual aids as they are better able to understand material presented visually.
Because of this, many teachers create “visual schedules” for their autistic students. This allows students to concretely see what is going on throughout the day, so they know what to prepare for and what activity they will be doing next. Some autistic children have trouble going from one activity to the next, so this visual schedule can help to reduce stress."
I can learn best when I have something to see. If I can't read it, or see it done, I can't do it.

"Research has shown that working in pairs may be beneficial to autistic children.[47] Autistic students have problems not only with language and communication, but with socialization as well. By facilitating peer interaction, teachers can help their students with autism make friends, which in turn can help them cope with problems or understand the world around them. This can help them to become more integrated into the mainstream environment of the classroom."
I'm very social, so that proves nothing on me.

"A teacher's aide can also be useful to the student. The aide is able to give more elaborate directions that the teacher may not have time to explain to the autistic child and can help the child to stay at an equivalent level to the rest of the class through the special one-on-one instruction. However, some argue that students with one-on-one aides may become overly dependent on the help, thus leading to difficulty with independence later on."
I need some minor help understanding what a teacher wants me to do. The teacher's aide helps in that.

"There are many different techniques that teachers can use to assist their students. A teacher needs to become familiar with the child’s disorder to know what will work best with that particular child. Every child is going to be different and teachers have to be able to adjust with every one of them."
Nothing really interesting there. They don't know it.

"Students with autism spectrum disorders sometimes have high levels of anxiety and stress, particularly in social environments like school. If a student exhibits aggressive or explosive behavior, it is important for educational teams to recognize the impact of stress and anxiety. Preparing students for new situations, such as through writing social stories, can lower anxiety. Teaching social and emotional concepts using systematic teaching approaches such as The Incredible 5-Point Scale or other cognitive behavioral strategies can increase a student's ability to control excessive behavioral reactions."
I'm very outgoing and have no social problems. I don't really show EVERY sign of autism, but I do show some of them.

Autism also has a symptom of kids doing things a certain way all the time, almost like OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). I have to type perfectly, all the time. If I don't, it annoys me. I have to correct someone in their English if they are wrong, and I can correct it. When sitting on the floor, or supposed to be sitting still, I HAVE to rock back and forth or else I get irritable. When sitting in a chair, I have to have my legs constantly moving or I get annoyed. Often times I go off into my own little world at school, and ignore everyone else.

I never knew in my entire fifteen years of life that I was an autistic child. It explains a few things that I never knew, but it's kind of scary.

Well for one i'm short, like only 5ft and almost 16. I'm podgy lol.

And i dunno if it's a bit of ocd or something, but i count, i count my steps when i'm walking, and i try not to step on the lines between the slab things on the ground. Also, when i'm drinking i count the amount or swigs i take, and for somereason i always stop at 7 or 10, it's weird i don't know why i do it.

When i was younger (around 9-10) when i used to think about things i would spell out the words i was thinking... That was REALLY annoying and hard to explain to my parents. For example i would say ''jelly'' in my mind and spell out ''j-e-l-l-y''

hm my back has 2 ( have to search the word for ) slipped discs - and I have problems with my nerve in my leg because of that .. the back is since 3 years the leg since 7 month .. really painful shit - it because I´m overweighted .. I reduced much weight but not enough .. hope my back will be better if I reduce more

I have asthma too and I need glasses too (and wear them) - much allergies and migrane (chronical) thats all what is really hard .. actual the back is killing me - I´m doing accupuncture for it and gymnastcs but takes really much time to heal .. TOO much

Luckily i don't have any serious problems, but i do have some things i wish i didnt have...

I have glasses, have had them since my fifth or so. Been thinking of changing them with lenses. So that will happen soon, i hope... I hate my glasses, they make me look goofy, and they make my hair stand up, making it look like i have wings on my head... -.-

Besides that, i have a slight form of Scoliosis, i dunno if you know what it is, but its a deformation of the spine which could result in a bad back and maybe even an operation. Luckily for me this won't be the case because if i would have an operation i wouldn't be able to walk for like 3 months...
Anyway, so i have this Brace i have to wear daily, but since i've stopped growing I'm not wearing it a lot anymore because it won't have much effect, so in a month or so i'm rid of it... :)

Hmm what more..? I did wear braces a while ago, but they went out when i was 15 or 16... few years ago. First in my class, was very happy with that xD

Talking about OCD, i do think i have a minor form of it, sometimes when i sit in the car i have to tilt my feet so my toes dont touch the ground and every time a tree, pole or something comes by i have to touch the ground with either one of my feet when it passes me. Sometimes i do this for fun, but sometimes it happens automatically...

Also i have this weird thing, when i touched something that touched my nail, i have to bend them back, so i press on top of the end of my nail to 'bend them back' really weird...

Im colorblind but its only with certain colors and its not that bad.....uhhhhh i cant feel both my pinkys, i have a 7 inch scar up my rib cage, and im sort of a insomniac all this b/c of a motorcycle accident. some football injuries...ill get random neck pains from over use and stress, recently i have broken all my toes in 1 foot, countless scars one i had 61 stitches down my leg from a boat motor and thats about it....

My dad is 10 times worse then me he has alot of war injuries and lost all hearing in his left ear and hes been shot b4.... (he was in vietnam)

Only really bad thing with me is that I have allergies from plants and stuff.

I got it from my dad, but my mom didn't have it.

So it balanced out so that I don't have it as bad as my dad.

When my dad gets it, his eyes swell as big as like a golf ball.

His head gets hot as Hell, and it's hard for him to breathe.

For me, my throat gets soar, my eyes get runny, I sneeze 24/7, it's sort of hard for me to breathe.
Thank God I don't have it like my dad. :(

well.. i dont have a bad thing.. but its not as bad as when i was little *im only 14 so ye lol* When i see blood i sometimes get really dizzy and get a really bad stomuch ache, OR i get quick sharp jab in my brain that causes me to drop, OR i faint on the spot and wake up not knowing what happened..

I use to do gymnastics... and my back, ankels and knees are screwed. If im playing soccer and i stop at half time.. and start running again my ankels will lock and my knees will lock and it hurts like a bitch, but i still play..

I also get a random pain in my lower back, as if a bone has snapped and it is sticking into my skin.. i also have to crap my nuckles.. and if i dont they start to hurt.. sometimes..

Nothing to big :) I've got more.. but for now :)

My right knee has a bone chip floating around in it that makes my leg hurt every so often when I run. My left leg is shorter than my right as well. My right pinky toe is so messed up I can take it and turn it in a 180. I also have irregular toe nails because I had to get them all ripped out when I was young.

I also have Downs Syndrom. Its amazing because I never cursed so loud at a doctor before. Let me tell you, he never tried to get into a battle of wits again after I dealt with him. ;)

boy thats not a bodily problem but an emotional problem, and i know what your going through because i went through the same thing three years ago and to this day the depression comes and goes i just try to keep myself busy so i don't stop to dwell on things. I also have ADHD had it since i was 7 or 8. Also to those that posted they have add its know been determined by doctors as ADHD which is the same thing. Though they don't use the term ADD anymore and another thing to those that said they have add and hate it well then thats your problem and you have to deal with it on the other hand i'm proud to have ADHD because i can focus on things others have a hard time with also known as the "hyper zone".
