View Full Version : Civilization
How do you guys feel about the current system we are living by, where everything revolves around materialism, money, miseducation, and a bunch of other shit that is not important when being compared to lifestyles such as tribalism.

I think it's totally wrong that we all live in a materialistic world, but I don't really see any reason why anybody would/could change it..too many selfish dicks xD
I love material things, your a lier if you tell me you don't enjoy iPods, TV's, pc's etc. It's up to you what path you choose in life, and that choice is dependent on your likes and dislikes. If you like the finer things then it is up to you to try and achieve a goal of being able to buy these things. Whatever it is you can choose weather to pursue it or not. Even if you like this tribalism, you can choose the path of that if you want to.
I am assuming everyone who reads this would have the freedom to choose what path they lead in life, as they are allowed access to a computer and also internet.
Depends on which country you live in. As if choosing a path in life is as simple as it sounds, you can't just simply walk into the woods and hope to live a happy life considering civilization is expanding at an enormous rate where you have no choice but to participate and if you oppose it you can become that bum on the street, nice choices right?

End tonight? How?
I agree with JD in the fact that no one, especially in the U.S. and in a bulk of Europe can't say they don't enjoy big televisions, iPods, laptops, fancy cars, etc. It is kinda sad to think we are so materialistic these days. I know I am, but it's funny how where you live and who you hang around with influence you a lot. I used to be one of those self-centered materialistic a-holes, when I lived up in the mountains near Six Flags Magic Mountain, because all the kids there were rich and materialistic. So, that's how I was. It's the complete opposite where I am now. I like material things, as does everyone, but nowhere near as bad.
But in a way, most people have the right to choose whether to be materialistic or not. Some people though, they don't have that luxury because their country, their government, and/or their belief system doesn't allow one or the other.

I think when we'd rather buy a giant SUV instead of helping people who are in desperate need of help, it's sad.
But I don't claim that I'm not materialistic a lot.

lol i saw that. There like a .2% chance that it could open a black hole. lol.
though it would kinda suck if you were they guy that ended the world.
There's a lot wrong with the world, but you can't fix it all lol. You'll never be able to.

the current situation of our "civilization" it's not really improving... so untill there are made some strategies/plans or something for a better future... like some idealists/utopians in the '80s '90s... well it's not going to be that good
I don't see what's wrong with society now tbh. Of course we're materialistic, our everyday lives revolve around technology; we need it to communicate and to do normal work.

People 100 years ago obviously did not communicate then?
Not efficiently. In order to operate up to standards in our society, we can not exactly deliver letters by horseback anymore.
