ILLI IS DRIVING ME INSANE

I made a 3d letter, and i wanted to select its foreground, the very top of it to edit it, i select the magic wand tool, but this Blue version of the Unbeveled letter keeps appearing in front of it, and i cant select the part of the beveled letter. Someone help!

hum... layer palette maybe? (assuming you know where to get it) to selct stuff from the layer palette, you have to click next to the circle thing and a square should appear showing which shape is selected. kinda different from ps.

oh and you can lock that letter you don't want to select from the object menu or from the layer palette.

or maybe it's grouped and it selects both

or maybe what you try to select is locked

I dunno m8, maybe a print screen could help, I'm not sure I get it.

EDIT: wtf am I talking about. don't use your magic wand dude. use the white or black arrow to select stuff. we use the magic wand only to select many objet with similar attribute. the configurations for the wand are kinda hard to set so you might just want to avoid this tool.

anyway tell me if you need to know anything in illy.

I need to use the magic wand to select the very top of the letter so i can add another bevel and emboss
on a work path.

just for some FUCKING REASON nothing i try to uploads uploads. on photobucket it keeps syain 100% on tiny pic it keeps loading and on imageshack too. WTF!

ok ok, I've never done that before but I know what's going on... I think.

you added an effect to the original letter. effects in illy doesn't affect the original shape so you can get back to it any time (similar to fx in ps in a way).
anyway, most effect (aren't they called "live effect" in english?) are managed from the "apearance" palette. this palette should display the bevel that is applyed to the original letter and you will be able to edit the bevel effect from there. hope that help but I've done a bevel/emboss before so I might be totaly wrong.

oh and if you don't want to edit the effect but the result of the effect. you will have to go somewhere in the object menu (I don't have a clue how it's called in english but it's the 10th in the object menu for me)

Well, thats if i live to 250, because thats how long its going to take for you to teach me EVERYTHING you know.. anyways.. i hate messing things up, really annoying.. but luckily we have fecal... he knows all :)
