Site lay-out, suggestion to make it better.

Ok, so i've been on this site for like a week now and I do like it. However I always tend to go straight up to the menu and click 'View New Posts' because the lay-out of the forum is a little strange and unclear.

I got some suggestions to make it better to surf on and so shrink it in a little bit.

So here we go:

GFX Junk:

Keep the News & Notice, Suggestions and World news. Get rid of the banned. Only leaves a bad mark. You could move this to the staff only section. It's not relevant for members to see who was banned.

CFXjunk Helpdesk:

Good idea, however, it takes a lot of room from the forum. No one will use it very often and all those people will be scrolling past it.

I would suggest, move the helpdesk down a little and move the General up. This is probably the most used forum and so it's more logical when it's under the news section.

Also remove the feedback and help, you already got Suggestions in the news forum.

Remove the Requests you already got it in recourses.

Showoff:

Change 'Showroom' into 'Signatures' People will think all their stuff belongs in the 'Showroom' and won't look at the 'Large Pieces' so i think 'signatures' would fit better.

The rest is ok.

Battle Arena:

Move this forum down, all the way. This isn't very relevant to many people. At least not as relevant as the General forum.

The Battle voting should be a sub-forum in the Battle forum.

Market and Recourses:

Remove the Market and move it as forum to Recourses with subforums like tutorials and Offers and requests. Also remove the Requests from the Helpdesk.

The market and the recourses both have a turorial forum, this is kind of confusing.

Teams:

This can be moved down to the bottom, the most inrelevant of all forums in my opinion. Many people won't be in teams and a lot won't bother to look there. You could also make a forum 'Teams' in General forums with subforums like 'Team discussion' 'Make a team' etc.

General:

Remove the Member's life and that crap...

Make one 'General discussion' where you can discuss everything you want.

There could also be some sub forums like 'Games' and 'Music'

Move this forum up up up, under News.

Public contests can be moved to Battles.

Gaming:

Remove this and move this as forum or sub forum to general.

Misc.:

Remove this and make an 'Off-topic' forum in General.

Off-topic sub forums can be: 'Jokes', 'Forum games' etc.

The off-topic will be the spam forum, the sub forums will be the jokes and forum games. Media can be moved to General Discussion and so does Music.

So with all this said, i will show you my view as how the forum should look.
This is a sub forum.

We're a Gfx forum which means all the Gfx forums, however irrelevant to new members are supposed to be first. Everything else that does'nt have to do with Gfx is towards the bottom.

In general discussion most topics will also be about grafix. Besides, why is the regular lay-out of EVERY forum out there always starting with general forums..? There is a reason why it's called 'general'...

I just think the current lay-out doesn't make sense at all...

though i think the request section should still exist..

I do agree that the current layout could do with a few changes, but the graphics forums should stay towards the top of the board as they are most important to the community here.

I'll comment on your ideas fully later.

@ staff: I don't think we should dismiss this suggestion completely, but instead I think we should discuss it to perhaps make the forums more user friendly.

about General, id definitely want it to stay put. I just looked at the first page of topics and not 1 of them was talking about Gfx at all.

And the Banned board IS beneficial to everyone. If people are banned because they ripped then people should know who the rippers are in case they use other forums and they are ripping there too.

A forum should be clear to everyone. Especially the ones that come here as guests, want to check the forum out a little to check out if it's ok and then register.

Ok, of course you will find out sooner or later where everything is, but i think it would be better if it is clear right away where everything is...

Besides, this isn't my first forum i visit. I've been on many forums and I just don't seem to understand the logic behind this lay-out...

No one will be complaining... Because or they don't want to, or they don't feel like it, or they don't think it will work because these reactions you are giving now.

Also many don't know better... But i think, no i know that a lot of new people will think, huh? What's this? Where's that? and so and therefor won't be as active as they would be if the lay-out was more user friendly...

but I'd like to see more people suggest on the layout before we doing anything well thats what i think atleast

and what reactions? we are just discusting your suggestion i think you should calm down a bit people will get use to the layout and in future notice someone of us will bring this up in the staff discussion and we'll talk about it there

What most of you don't seem to realise is that we wouldn't have to follow what he has suggested exactly, we can adapt it and change it to fit what we want whilst still making the site more userfriendly.

A lot of the areas we have atm, aren't used that often.
