Those are sketches animations done using Photoshop. Technique has nothing extroardinary. It is just how the characters are moving in my paintings, but it is long to make and fastidious, so it rough and short.

First is quite bad. The drawings are good, but the animation is bad. Just really unrealistic.

Second is better. Animation is good.

as you said yourself, very rough. but you've got the drawing skill to make some very nice animations :). just add more frames in between ;) (but you probably figured that out yourself too :P)

and i think it's the guy in the front (on the black horse (:P), with the painfull expression), since he's falling. ;)

i'm looking forward to another animation man :)
