What would you consider pro?..

Well imo on a lot of GFX sites its all about popularity.. If you have friends in the classing team you can easily get a higher rank. Which makes it kind of unfair..
Also when those 'pros' make a sucky tag, the people who comment say its nice.. (Seen it happening a few times).. Buut when a novice or a mod makes a sucky sig they easily say it sucks..
Also for example if a novice makes a inter tag people would rate it mod and not inter.. Or when a Moderate makes a semi tag, they say ts inter..

I dont think you can say someone is pro, pros are people like Van Gogh or Picasso. Besides some pros are soooooo cocky :/..

ya, but we're not talking about that. Just like vera said, if you have friends on ranking team, there's a likely possibility that they might give you a higher rank.

To be completely honest, I've always said I absolutely hated the ranking system like this. Mainly because, imo you cannot ever get a completely true ranking as it's based on opinions. A lot of people will rank someone on how popular they are, their current ranking or whatever. Someone cannot be completely pro, unless they're getting paid for what they do and someone isn't going to get paid purely for making tags.

I'm not taking it so seriously anymore.
For example, a good digi painted tag or vector work, I'd probably rank between semi & pro.

i agree alot with what vera has said... People who are known to make semi/inter tags, when they make a bad tag they will still say its quite good, i seen some of this on this forum when i first join, however i dont see this as much anymore which is why i like it here :) But it happened everywhere really :)

i dont think you can consider anyone as completely pro either unless they are earning money of big companies like nike and adidas or w.e for adverts and that like the artist hjez (my favourite).

ummm... maybe. What athma makes is pretty high inter and semi-pro, but not pro. He is definitely a great tag maker. But Pro means originality, so probably using your own effects and C4D's.

I have a relative in my family who is a professional, i know what pros are like, they love and enjoy their work, sure they get carried away but we all do if we had the ability to make semi-pro/professional tags.
Pros can be asses sometimes but think about it, all people can be assholes at times, even me ( don't say it vlad )
I only know like two pros and they are both relatives to me. It kinda runs in my family and hopefully in my genes. Its what i want to do when i am older.

The definition of "Professional" is someone who gets paid for their good work.

What a "Pro" in a game or on a Gfx site its someone who's talented. The meaning of pro has been stretched and mangled over the internet due to people associating pro with something that is really good, not something made by a paid person.

I can be considered "Pro" because I make graphics and banners for websites [I've only done one but I got paid $500 for it].

So in reality, Gfx pros on a website arn't pro for shit. They just have some talent.

Pros&novice gfxers SHOULD be ranked fairly. There are some very 'popular' gfxer who are commented many times by people here on the forum ( I`m not trying to be rude ! ) and some who are 'not-popular' that are commented either 3-6th times. However it is nice that someone at least commented&gave some tips on your artwork and how you could improve on it and such. It doesn`t really matter to me though. I`m just happy with my gfx and how my styles are. I`m not a pro but I still love doing gfxs&trying out newer styles from tuts!

My thought's on it, you're never going to get an unbiased rank, it all depends on the following factors: Popularity
You're previous rank
Friends in the ranking class
Other various things along the same lines.

The only real reason I'd see for a ranking system within GFX is to create an unofficial hierarchy within the GFX communities, such as "pro's" opinion's mattering more than that of a novice.

Which in some cases it may be a good system to have, but in others, it is not.

yep, I agree. But it's life. in the online GFX community, well if you get a good rep it usually carries a long way. the same with a bad rep.

unfortunately, I must agree. I was on this one GFX site, and this guy got some rep for contributing resources. Then all the rep got taken away in a battle... n00bs started calling him a crappy sig maker and a loser... and he was one of the best designers on the forum..
